Margarita García Candeira teaches Literary Theory and Comparative Literature at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Since she gained her PhD with a dissertation on the work of Luis García Montero (partially published as «Estrategia y melancolía. La herencia de la vanguardia en la obra de Luis García Montero», Peter Lang, 2012) she has worked mainly in modern and contemporary peninsular poetry, approaching authors such as Gamoneda, Gimferrer, Riechmann, Jiménez and, especially, José Ángel Valente, but also in nineteenth century literature (namely Castro and Pardo Bazán). She is particularly interested in the poetics of modernity and views of tradition.
