
Simone Winko studied German, Philosophy and English at the Universities of Kiel and Munich, where she also taught for several years after receiving her doctorate. She habilitated at the University of Hamburg with a DFG habilitation fellowship with her thesis “Kodierte Gefühle. Systematische Überlegungen und historische Untersuchungen zur Thematisierung und Präsentation von Emotionen in poetologischen und lyrischen Texten um 1900.” After a temporary position as acting professor in Kiel, she has been teaching modern German literature at the University of Göttingen since 2003. Her main research interests are literary theory, theory of evaluation and canon formation, praxeology of literary studies, literary studies and linguistics, literature around 1900 and digital literature. She is the head of the Göttingen Center for the Theory of Literature.
